The is an electric motor propelled trailer that turns your car into a hybrid vehicle. The unit is mostly self contained with only a single cable running to the car for control. The shift knob for my 5-speed transmission is replaced with a squeeze type throttle. 2 buttons are used to switch between: accelerate, regenerative braking, and coasting. Inside the case is 12 35Ah sealed lead acid batteries that produce 144vDC. A homemade motor controls how much current is fed to the 2 series-connected motors. Motor controller status feed back is displayed on a small LCD screen. The current mode is displayed as well as how much electric current is being used or recouped. I’m currently testing a modification that allows me to use a small tablet as the display which will be able to show me more status info including battery charge status and what distance I can go on the current charge.

here is a front shot. On top you can see the radiator fins for the motor controller. The controller can handle 40 kilwatts of continuous power which is more than enough for the motors and batteries. I wanted to make it bullet proof since this was built from scratch with no high wattage motor experience.

right now it displays a fault because it knows it’s not connected to the main controller

close up of the squeeze trigger. Where the C-clamp is attached is a saddle clamp that wraps around the shift rod inside my car. The body sits at a slight angle making it ergonomic and easy to control
